Group holding a Check for Dolly Donation - DT

You helped us donate $4,500 to expand reading opportunities

We’re passionate about uplifting people at Allied Hearing, and that extends to our community giving. It’s why we were pleased to donate $4,500 to United Way of Gratiot & Isabella Counties in support of the local chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

We gave to the local United Way affiliate to ensure funds stay in the community, helping right here at home. And we couldn’t have done it without the help of loyal community members like you.

Our contribution, awarded in December, helps support the longtime kids’ book-gifting program, which is part of the nonprofit Dollywood Foundation. As of February, the international program has awarded more than 232.7 million books worldwide since its 1995 launch.

A Perfect Match

For us at Allied Hearing, it’s all about helping children and their families engage in empowering ways. Hearing and reading open a world of imagination, learning, and joy. This venerable book-gifting program was a perfect match for us, because both hearing and reading:

  • Play an important role in overall wellness
  • Help fuel inspiration and unlock potential
  • Go hand in hand with experiencing the wonders of life
  • Enhance connections with others and create lasting memories

Of course, we also simply love reading and want to make sure as many young people as possible can access the power of books, so there’s that!

Your Invaluable Loyalty

But the best part? Support from people just like you helped make our donation possible. In December, we launched a campaign to help fund 10,000 books. We pledged a portion of proceeds from hearing aid sales. In addition, we donated $10 when new patients mentioned the book program or scheduled a hearing screening.

All in all, we were able to raise $4,500, and we can’t thank our wonderful patients and their families enough. Community generosity like this is one of the reasons the international program is able to mail a book every 1.3 seconds. And according to the program, “enrolled children from birth receive 60 books by the time they graduate from the Imagination Library.”  That’s quite a feat.

Local Kids, Local Benefits

With the Imagination Library’s record of working with communities and organizations, such as Gratiot-Isabella Regional Education Service District, Allied Hearing’s donations — provided through the United Way — benefit local children. That means your neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones may be taking part in this wonderful program.

In addition to the U.S., however, the book-gifting program also operates in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland, according to their website. Hopefully, in time, the program will expand to even more regions across the global community, helping children in every corner of the world.
