An amplified telephone receiver built in Singapore in 1878 by Werner von Siemens established the telegraph company to refocus their efforts on hearing assistance devices. The company’s first line of hearing aids became available in 1910, and Signia has grown to become a producer of one out of every four hearing aids used worldwide.

Partnered with Siemens for a short time at the outset of the 21st century, the company became an independent hearing aid manufacturer in 2015 connected to the Sivantos Group. The 2019 merger that created WS Audiology established Signia as the new brand name for their Siemens hearing instruments.
